Beautiful Radiant Skin
The human skin is made up of layers that are constantly being renewed. According to biological scientists and dermatologists, the skin is being regenerated at all times. About two to three billions of skin cells are shed and renewed daily. The way and manner by which skin regeneration and renewal occur is a miracle that is not yet fully understood by humankind. God in His mercy and wisdom designed the human skin to perform very critical functions. These include protection, sensation, heat regulation/insulation, excretion, storage and synthesis of life sustaining materials, and regulation of water and gases. The skin serves as the first line of defense in the human body. It covers and protects all other organs of the human body including the muscles and bones. The skin also contains nerve endings that react to touch, pressure, tissue injury, pains, vibrations, and temperature. Blood supply to the skin enables it to control heat loss by radiation, conduction, and convention, and thus maintain constant body temperature under all weather conditions. When the temperature is high, excretion through the skin by sweating followed by evaporation is a part of the temperature regulation function of the skin. In addition, the skin produces vitamin D and acts as a storage center for essential substances including water, and minerals. Underneath the skin is a layer of fat which helps to insulate the body against bangs, bumps, as well as the wear and tear of daily living, from the cradle to the grave. Maintaining the proper balance of important minerals and water within the body, otherwise known as osmoregulation, is another very critical function performed by the human skin. The skin also absorbs vital substances into the body and at the same time keeps out pathogens.
To bloom and glow with an attracive personality, the development of a beautiful skin is required. A smooth and glowing skin is a good indicator of good health. However, the skin is not healthy all the time. Most skin disorders are due to bacterial, viral, and fungal infections, as well as too much exposure to sunlight. Commonly occurring skin disorders include skin irritations, bumps, rashes, blisters, eczema, bruises, oily or dry skin, and skin cancer. To avoid many of the problems encountered by the skin, simple precautionary measures should be taken. For example, exposing the skin too many times each day to soap and bath products is not advisable because the skin may react adversely to some of the chemicals used in manufacturing some of the soaps currently in the markets. Additionally, some lotions and perfumes regularly used on the skin may cause irritation and thereby produce rashes, bumps, and itches. Therefore, minimal use of beauty products and cosmetics is a prudent and good way to avoid unnecessary irritation, to the skin. Moreover, overexposure to direct sunlight can seriously affect the human skin and cause cancer. As such, proper protection from ultraviolet radiation from the sun must be taken when outdoors. To avoid and/or prevent most skin disorders, you must learn, develop, and practice strategies and methods to clean, treat, and protect your skin every day.
