Meditation Is A Spiritual Fitness Program
Meditation is a spiritual fitness program. In addition to its physiological and psychological benefits, meditation has spiritual benefits also. The meditative technique can be described as prayer in the Spirit or communion with God in the Spirit. For centuries, meditation has traditionally been seen as a tool for spiritual realization and fulfillment. Since the dawn of history, the practice of meditation has been associated with the attainment of higher spiritual states. Regardless of the hustle and bustle of modern living, practitioners of meditation still find the practice helpful to their spiritual development. Meditation is a technique for human beings to commune with the Deity; it is an inner dialogue with God and serves as a pathway to the comprehension of inner mysteries. The practice facilitates spiritual communion with God; blending the human mind with the mind of Almighty God. Whereas the physiological and psychological benefits of meditation have so far been the main focus of the Western World, exploration of the spiritual aspects of meditation has been facilitated by modern scientific tools, novel technologies, and a better scientific understanding of the human brain.
Recent progress in brain research has provided a clear evidence of the spiritual dimension of meditation. It is now known that the desires, values, outlook, and goals of people who meditate tend to shift from material things towards selfless things, personal growth, and spiritual fulfillment. Regular deep meditation makes you aware of the Spirit of God residing within you. It deepens your religious and spiritual experience and commitment, enhances and enriches your understanding of the Higher Power within you. A conscious contact with the God you believe in empowers your prayers. (Be still and know that I am God. Psalm 46:10). You cannot sense God until you have stilled the outer earthly consciousness of materialistic comprehension and allowed your subliminal self to rise to the heights necessary for communion with the Consciousness of God. Meditation elevates the higher capacities of your mind and consciousness, and increases your perception, awareness, insight, and compassion. Jesus of Nazareth learned and knew how to commune with the Father for harmony, health, inspiration, guidance, knowledge, wisdom, and power.
