Meditation and Brainwave

The brain functions just like a transmitter and receiver with certain frequencies. Brainwave frequency is the electricity that empowers the brain to function non-stop just like the heart’s electricity enables the heart to beat non-stop. However, brain waves are much more than a source of power supply to the brain; they directly affect your state of mind positively or negatively. The chemical activity of your brain and brainwave frequency automatically change whenever a new stimulus is received or transmitted by the brain. Yur brain wave frequency is closely related to your thoughts, emotions, moods, body chemistry and state of consciousness. Changes in your moods and states of consciousness have been proven to correlate with changes in your brainwave frequency. For example, the brainwave frequency of a happy person is quite different from that of a sad person. Moreover, the brain waves of a sick individual differ from the brainwave of a healthy individual. Because changes in brainwave activities are accompanied by changes in your state of mind, they can be modified for improved mental and emotional health. Your brainwave frequency affects everything you are and everything you aspire to be. Deep meditation can change the frequency of your brain waves. Changes in brainwave frequencies are always accompanied by changes in our state of consciousness. There is a direct correlation between your states of mind and specific brainwave frequencies. Medical meditation normalizes the brainwave frequency and the state of your mind. Evidence from scientific research has shown that different brainwave frequencies affect your state of mind differently. Thus, the brainwave frequencies that correlate specifically with certain states of human consciousness has mental health implications. A scientific and thorough understanding of this concept can enable you to change your brainwave patterns at will and consequently change the state of your minds and emotions. Meditation has been proven to produce changes in our brainwave frequencies and states of consciousness. Wave frequencies of the brain are comprised of five ranges. These are: gamma (38 hz-100 hz), beta (12 hz-38 hz), alpha (11.9 hz-8 hz), theta (7.9 hz-4 hz) and delta (3.9 hz-.01 hz). Meditation slows down your brainwaves. Slower brainwaves integrate the function of your whole brain resulting in peak performance, general improvement in wellness and well-being, improved memory, enhanced intuition and creativity, superb learning and intellectual performance. Alpha, theta, and delta waves are the most beneficial brainwave frequencies. Daily practice of meditation changes the brainwave frequencies of your brain and enables your mind and body to function at optimal levels.
